  • Globalization encompasses global interactions and integrations in various aspects of human life: commerce, social interactions, climate issues, and healthcare.
  • In the Caribbean, globalization offers opportunities like access to a wider range of higher quality products, exporting to larger markets, increased employment through exports, and more business investments, leading to improved living standards and wages.
  • However, it also has drawbacks, such as negatively impacting local industries and causing some businesses to close due to cheaper imported goods.
  • The "global village" concept describes how technology connects people worldwide, facilitating easy interactions through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, breaking down communication barriers, and encouraging global participation in events.
  • Globally connected technology includes smartphones, tablets, laptops, the Internet, and satellites, which have changed work dynamics and created numerous job opportunities, exemplified by e-commerce.
  • Mass media, comprising print, broadcast, and electronic media, plays a vital role in global communication, positively impacting personal development, cultural promotion, and socioeconomic programs. Yet, it can also present negative images and overshadow local perspectives.
  • Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram facilitate connectivity, community support, and business relationships, but they can also contribute to addiction and cyberbullying issues.
  • The Internet revolutionizes access to knowledge and entertainment but presents challenges like declining traditional publishing industries, piracy, and information overload.
  • Cyberbullying involves online harassment through emails, instant messages, chat rooms, and fake profiles on social networking sites.
  • Overall, globalization and communication technology have drastically transformed the world, fostering global connections and influencing diverse aspects of society.
