Real property
-Refers to land and anything permanently attached to it, including buildings, trees, minerals and water rights (also acknowledges the air of the property to a certain height)
-Also includes air above and below the house to a certain extent
-It encompasses the legal rights as associated with owning, possessing, using and transferring land and its improvement
🔗Realty and Personality
Realty.
-Defined as real property, including land and anything permanently attached to it
*Case: Pierson v Post
Personality
-defined as personal property, including moveable items not permanently attached to land
*Case: Johnson v McIntosh
🔗Corporeal and Incorporeal property
Corporeal
-Refers to tangible, physical property that can be seen and touched
-Example:land, buildings, vehicles, furniture
Incorporeal
Refers to intangible property rights, such as easements, patents and copyrights
*Case: international news service v associated press
🔗Moveable and Immoveable property
Movable
-Property that can be easily moved or transferred from one location to another
-Example: furniture, vehicles, jewelry
Immovable
Property that is fixed and cannot be moved without significant effect or damage
*Case: Pennsylvania Coal Co v Mahon
